| Additives E numbers are substances added to food and drink in order to modify natural behaviour. They come in many guises and can be classified amongst others as an artificial colouring, a preservative, a flavour enhancer, or artificial sweetener. They are also used to manipulate consistency for example raising agents, emulsifiers, anti-caking agents and thickeners. The Foods Srandards Agency are calling for a ban on some additives www.food.gov.uk developed with the help of the hyperactive children's support group
